Thousands of dead fish wer found washed ashore in the Jacarepagua Lagoon on Saturday, next to Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Park. Residents began noticing the appearance of dead fish on Friday. Orlando Gomes, who has lived in the area since 2011, said it's the first time he has seen the phenomenon in the lagoon.

NATO kicks off naval drills in Black Sea with Ukraine

Ukraine is hosting naval military exercise in the Black Sea with NATO forces, involving 2,500 troops and some 150 military vehicles, from warships and helicopters to armored cars.

Hurricane Fred forms in the Atlantic

Fred has strengthened to a hurricane as it approaches the Cape Verde Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says Fred's maximum sustained winds early Monday have increased to near 80 mph with some additional strengthening possible.

Fresh Earthquake of Magnitude 5.1 Hits Nepal; Tremors Felt in Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim

Tremors were felt in several parts of India after an earthquake hit Nepal on Sunday. The fresh quake struck 89 km east of Kathmandu.
