24 pilot whales die after beaching in Baja California

n this image released by Mexico's Secretary of the Navy on May 15, 2016, soldiers and villagers try in vain to move beached whales into deeper waters in a beach known as Playa Bufeo, near Ensenada in Mexico's Gulf of California. Mexico’s Navy said in a statement Sunday that its personnel along with soldiers, agents of the environmental ministry and local fishermen worked Saturday and into Sunday trying to save the whales but ultimately, of the 27 that came ashore, only three were saved. SEMAR via Associated Press
