Flash Flood Danger Continues into Memorial Day Weekend As Rainfall Nears May Records

May rainfall totals are nearing, or even exceeding historic levels, approaching 20 inches in parts of Texas and Oklahoma. Those totals are bound to climb still higher in the coming days with more thunderstorms with torrential rain in the forecast.

    The rising Wichita River prompted evacuations of parts of the east side of Wichita Falls, Texas Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The river was forecast to crest sometime Friday less than a foot from its record crest from late June 2007.
